They will run around $500.00 to install a basic unit and you pay a monthly fee of around $50. to monitor it. ADP and Sears both sell pretty good systems.
don’t go get a cheap provider. it is best to get a nationwide provider. there is adt, sonitrol, rollins, alarm force etc.. invite these guys to the home and tell them that you are taking bids and after your evaluation of these companies you will be hiring one of them (make them fight it out between themselves). space the appointments that you have with them to meet with you so you will have time to digest the “sales” pitch. make sure at this time you only want a price, and what the monthly charge is, and what do they do to protect your assets. at the end of this you should be able to narrow down between 2. that is where you can get the best deal (remember, the person you are talking to is just a sales person and he/she needs this sale to be able to eat, not unlike a car sales person). make sure the contract is what you are willing to deal with, and get freebies, like extra key pads/ fobs
the ability to see your home from work cams… don’t cost them much if at all, they make $$ off of the subscription just like satellite companies. good luck, be strong, and evaluate your choices.
Hi,
It all depends on what you want. How many protected doors/areas/windows, if you want a back up system, what type of panel you want or require, how many keypads you want…
Our company it’s $650.00 installed for a basic system. That usually includes one keypad, no back up system and 6-8 zones/devices.
Most companies will come to your home and provide you with a free quote. Monitoring costs also vary. Ours are $20 a month plus GST or $40 a month with a back up system plus GST. Other companies can go up to $50 or more a month. All depends who you go with.
As for quality, my person opinion, stick with a hardwired system. Wireless systems are a pain in the behind.
You can also get other things added onto your system such as CO2 detectors, low temperature devices, high water (sump pump) alarms, etc.
So it definitley all depends. Could be anywhere from $500 – $2000.
If you have anymore questions feel free to e-mail me from my profile page.
Nearly 3 years ago I had someone try to break into my condo. It was at night and the lights were off, but I wasn’t yet asleep. I heard a noise at the back door. I ran into the kitchen and flipped on the outside lights. It scared the burgler and I saw him run off. . I then called a couple burglar alarm service in my area and they all came out to give a quote and explained to me the installation and monthly fees. I suggest you call a home securty installer to get your questions answered. http://www.homesecuritysystemratings.com Most alarm companies offer a free installation special, so ask about that too.
