Is there a monitor we can have at home so we know if our elderly father is dying in bed so we can save him?
He is 70 years old and has just had a stroke happened during the night (which thankfully wasn’t too severe).
I really worry sometimes when he is in his bedroom on his own sleeping during the night and also sleeping when he has his 1 hour afternoon nap.
He could die in his sleep and I wouldn’t know and wouldn’t get there in time to save him. I don’t want to invade on his privacy and burst into his room to check he is still alive.
Is there a machine we can get that will raise an alarm to let me know if there is something wrong so I could get to him in time and prevent him dying?
He does have an alarm button that is linked to emergency services, but if he is sleeping he wouldn’t be able to press this. We need a system that can detect problems while he is asleep and raise an alarm that I can hear so I can go into his bedroom and save him and get an ambulance.
What does anyone suggest?
Wow! Should have added that I would like it to be a gadget that will not effect his ability to sleep. Surely there is something simple like a heart rate monitor strap that is linked to an alarm what could sound in my room upstairs if there is a problem? Would this prevent a stroke?
